The 59th edition of the Prix Italia will be held in Verona during the period 23 - 29 September 2007.

The venue of the Festival is Palazzo della Gran Guardia, located in Piazza Brà, in front of the Arena of Verona, in the city’s historic centre.

The Palazzo della Gran Guardia was built as a covered area to hold troops in bad weather. It was designed in 1610 by architect Domenico Curtoni (1556-1629), of the Michele Sammicheli school.

It remained incomplete until almost two centuries later the project was taken up by Giuseppe Barbieri, who added the great staircase leading to the upper hall and gave the construction the form it has today. The building was not completed until 1856, with the paving of the portico floor. The last restoration, which took almost ten years, was completed in August 2001.
Today, the Palazzo is a world famous conference centre.

By car: from autostrada A4 Serenissima Milan-Venice take the Verona Sud exit or from autostrada A22 Brennero-Modena, take the Verona Nord exit, and head for the “centro storico”;

By train: the Verona Porta Nuova station is 1.5 kilometres from the Prix Italia location. Frequent bus connections, lines 11-12-13;

By plane: the Verona Valerio Catullo airport is 12 kilometres from the Prix Italia location, and there are shuttle buses every 20 mins. to and from the Verona Porta Nuova railway station.
